TICKLEY FEATHER
'Self-Titled' 12"
Ltd. to 500

"twenty track collection of naievty and lo-fi whimsy. All recorded on four track and collected from the past four years experimentation, Tickley Feather is lone female; Annie Sachs known for touring as support to Animal Collective with whom she shares a love of lo-budget instrumentation, heavily treated vocals and FX, but most of all the simple charms of a simply song sung with originality and personality. The keyboards plink and plonk, the drum machines clatter and spurt whilst the vocals come swathed in reverbed mesh of cavernous depth. Beyond twee, the tracks are so short if you blink you'd miss them. What's so endearingly appealing is the honesty and sheer guile of the approach taken. Stripped of vocals this would even make a very good lo-fi electronica opus. There's no comparing, fortunately." Some guy on the internet

"Tickley Feather are a bit of a revelation; trancey, elliptical folk/drum machine gallops that lilt with melody and feature these gorgeous female vocals. Annie Sachs has got a great one, especially in its higher registers, where she almost resembles Liz Fraser or Siouxsie. Hometaping sands off the edges roughly, but that makes it sound even more open and lost inside itself." Dusted Mag

"Tickley Feather is Annie Sachs, and what she does is something akin to the very soul of 'acid folk', although its not ancient sounding and, indeed, doesnt really sound much like anything else at all. The arrangements , vocals and lyrics all have a certain lightness, but they're twisted in all sorts of directions and the results are stunning" WIRE

"Tickley Feather is dosed with all the lush space whisper 'n ache of Gilli Smyth or Helen Johnstone pasted & cut over an aural veneer of THAT sort've determined instrumentation that has become a hallmark amongst the finest in the Finnish underground. Were I a bettin man, I'd have wagered this would've been something off the Weird Forest label. That it's from here in town is practically cause for celebration. You's bring the spirits. The crow cassoulet 'n humble pie's on me." Siltblog
